During that time, there was a telemetry link problem with a T1 line that prevented the downlink of some THEMIS-E VC3 data before the reset recovery wiped it out. This has been happening for a while, and is not due to pass coverage problems. We start a 12-hour conjunction-triggered fast survey collection period that (presently) begins near perigee. This means that we have room for the fast survey data, but it leaves approximately 3 1/2 days of continuous slow survey data collection that eventually fills the survey segment before the next perigee pass is reached. See the attached plot. Should we do something mid-orbit to curtail slow survey collection (as we were doing at the end of the first tail season)? Or is the data being lost the least interesting of the orbit? There is also the danger that fast survey will begin shortly before the SSR can be played down. Bryce I think that the data being lost is the least interesting. If you do not mind saturating the memory, then it seems to me we are doing just fine now until around the mid-summer. At that time we have to implement the same SS data collection curtailment strategy as we had in the dusk sector, following the tail season (for the exact same reason). Vassilis +20/June/08 Hello, John Bonnell has verified that ICCR_DOP063 to increase the FFP spectral resolution looks good on TH-A. He requests that it be implemented on all probes and we propose a timeline for doing so. See attached ICCR_DOP063 Rev.1. We seek Tohban approval of this proposal. Thanks, Deron APPROVED-Chris Chaston • TH-D and TH-E during Week 26 ( 23 –27 June 2008 ) to be verified by 1 July • TH-B and TH-C during Week 27 ( 30 June – 3 July 2008 ) to be verified Week 28 ( 7– 11 July ) THEMIS ATS loads for DOY 175-182 have been prepared and uplinked. We haven't changed anything on THEMIS B re: slow survey data collection, so we can expect the survey segment to saturate before the next 2 perigee passes. However, Vassilis said that the data lost to saturation is not as important as other survey data we could forgo. The upcoming perigee passes will allow us to play the SSR down BEFORE the C4D starts, and the SSR will not saturate until well after the C4D is finished, so (for now) fast survey data collection is assured. As I already told McFadden, we're re-running the ESA gain toggle test at 10Re outbound on THEMIS B at 2008/176 09:19:00.
