Some Berkeley hotels

The University housing office's hotels page, which includes some really undesirable places as well as some nice ones. For thrifty, active people who can make do with a shared bath, the YMCA is really convenient and has full gymnasium facilities.

The Doubletree Hotel and Convention Center is located on the Berkeley marina. They are quite isolated from the rest of Berkeley but have all the amenities you are familiar with at large chain hotels; including loads of free parking, a pool, work-out equipment, and network access in your hotel room. And then there's the chocolate chip cookies...

The Hotel Shattuck Plaza is a standard inexpensive place. It is convenient for BART (hence the airports and the City) and the campus but is fairly old. It has good long-stay rates.

The Berkeley City Club is a small gem of a hotel, located just south of campus and designed by the famed architect, Julia Morgan, who also designed Hearst Castle, amoung other marvels. It features an amazing, gothic swimming pool. Room rates include free parking, continental breakfast and ALL taxes. I have heard that they don't have TVs in the rooms.

The Hotel Durant is well-considered and is also located just south of campus. They have a restaurant and room service is available as well.

The Rose Garden Inn is much more of a real bed and breakfast. Gorgeous gardens located on Telegraph Avenue and a healthy walk up to campus.
