Second Circular

This is the second circular for the RHESSI-SOHO-TRACE workshop on flares and CMEs, to be held in Sonoma, California Dec. 8-11, 2004. This follows the very successful ACE/RHESSI/Wind workshop in 2003, which resulted in many valuable exchanges among the participants. Please see the worskshop home page at http://rhessi-soho-trace.org, which lists the working groups and describes their objectives. We intend for this to be a hands-on workshop with emphasis on data analysis, especially for data intercomparisons. The deadline for registration is October 1, 2004, and the registration fee can be paid via credit card if desired. The registration fee will be $300, which includes several of the meals. After the October 1 deadline, the fee will rise to $350. For students (pre-doctoral) the fee is $100.

We would like to encourage partipation from the heliospheric community, including those interested in solar energetic particles (SEPs), especially considering the fortuitous occurrence of the October-November 2003 events as observed well by many spacecraft, some inadvertently. These observations provide our best opportunity yet to understand the relationship between solar and interplanetary high-energy processes.

The workshop takes place just prior to the AGU meeting in San Francisco. Sonoma is near San Francisco, and access is easy from San Francisco or Oakland airports. The meeting site is a lovely setting in the California wine country.
