The simultaneous operation of RHESSI, SOHO, and TRACE for over two years has permitted an unprecedented in-depth analysis of solar activity. This workshop is oriented towards the synthesis of data from these spacecraft coupled with ground-based observations plus theory and modeling.
The organizing committee wishes to emphasize that this is a true WORKshop, not a conference. A few invited talks on key themes, and the final reports from working groups, will be the only formal plenary presentations. For most of the meeting time, the participants will be divided into manageably small working groups (a dozen or so people per group), aimed at research on specific topics. Participants will be expected to carry out collaborative research prior to the workshop itself, so that we can get maximal exchange of ideas in Sonoma and, we hope, use the meeting time to both consolidate existing results into publishable manuscripts, and foster further research collaborations.
To participate fully in real-time data analysis and exchange of ideas and results at the meeting, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops. Projectors and broad-band wireless Internet connections will be available in all the meeting rooms.
Intended participants should visit the site at
where a list of workshop groups and their science goals will be found. Participants should select a group which they wish to join and provide a short summary of their proposed contribution. This material will be used by the team leaders to coordinate pre-workshop activities and ensure a lively interaction amongst the participants.
We look forward to seeing you in California!
