Paper Title: Seismic Emission from Solar Flares Author List: C. Lindsey, A.-C. Donea Abstract: Presentation of holographic signatures of seismic emission from large solar flares. We have movies of helioseismic sources of three large flares, including those of October 28 and 29, 2003. We have concurrent movies of photospheric radiation from the GONG with 1-min cadence for the October flares and Na-D1 spectroheliograms with 2.5-min cadence of the October 29 flare. Seismic emission comes from hard X-ray footpoints observed by RHESSI. The acoustic emission is a small fraction of the total energy released by the flare. Given a clear understanding of the physics, seismic emission from flares could be a useful diagnostic tool for local helioseismology. Poster: No
