Abstract:
We extrapolate the magnetic topology of a flare region from SOHO/MDI
magnetograms and investigate the magnetic structure along and near the
flare ribbons.  We discuss the implications of the topology for the
activation and dynamics of the flare ribbons and the connectivity
between the ribbons and the rest of the flaring region.
