Title: The Neupert effect: Comparison of data and theory

Abstract: I have recently worked on testing the Neupert effect using
RHESSI and GOES flare observations. A simple model on the flare energy
budget was derived (including nonthermal energy in electrons, the
thermal energy in the plasma as we ll as estimates of conductive and
radiative cooling losses) and compared with observations. This kind of
analysis could be applied to other flares in order to get an idea on
the thermal/nonthermal energy fractions. It would be definitely helpful 
to have also additional information from other instruments on the
flare geometry/size and thermal plasma parameters.
