The role of the outflow termination shock in solar flares

Abstract:
We are currently studying non-drifting type II radio bursts which we
interpret as signatures of the reconnection outflow termination shock.
This shock is a candidate for acceleration of energetic particles. We
will provide arguments for this interpretation and focus on events that
had RHESSI data coverage. One main aim is to compare theoretically
computed electron spectra with those which can be inferred from the
RHESSI HXR spectra.
