RHESSI/ SOHO/ TRACE Workshop:
Coordinated observations of flares and CMEs

Sonoma, California, December 8-11, 2004

Last edited December 2, 2004

Objectives of workshop:
We intend to have a workshop oriented towards
the synthesis of data from the satellites and
also ground-based data. The basic idea is to
have manageably small working groups on specific
topics, so that we can get maximal exchange of
ideas and (we hope) the fostering of new research
arrangements. There will be no set presentations
other than the four introductory talks, but
participants may present posters. Thus the
emphasis of the workshop will be on actual
research work. To minimize the overhead we
will not plan to have any published proceedings,
but we fully expect that the workshop will stim-
ulate research that will lead directly to published
papers. Working groups will be encouraged to use
the Web to record as much as possible of the mate-
rial presented or developed at the workshop itself.
The facilities include broad-band wireless Internet
connections in the meeting rooms.

Meeting location

The meeting will take place at the hotel, The Lodge at Sonoma. Room bookings should be done directly with the hotel, asking for the special rate (a bargain $110) we have arranged for "RHESSI". Booking should be done directly with the Lodge (1-888-710-8008), with a deadline of November 5, 2004 for the special rate. This rate applies for the meeting dates but a rate of $139 is also available for the weekend in between our meeting and the AGU if one books early enough. Please note that there will be a reception from 6:00 pm Tuesday evening, December 7, in the hotel. The meeting will end mid-day on Saturday, December 11. The Sonoma Valley Inn and The Inn at Sonoma are seemingly homologous alternative hotels, both within walking distance of the Lodge and the town square.

Registration details

The meeting registration deadline will be mid-November, 2004. The fee of $300 must be paid by October 18, 2004, after which it will increase to $350; the student rate is $100. Register at the registration page; if you have already registered and wish now to pay the registration fee, you may do so on-line at our ePay page. Note: your browser must be set to allow cookies for this transaction to work at present. The fees can be paid by check sent via mail (instructions) or by cash or check at the meeting itself. You do not need to pay the fees when you register, following these deadlines; if you wish to pay later you can do so here. Please note that the meeting space is limited, the science is profound, and the location is delightful, so think about registering early.

Accompanying persons: We will need to charge an extra $100 for accompanying persons wishing to join the banquet and wine receptions (all days). Please use the ePay facility accessible via this link for such a case. For other arrangements, such as banquet only, please correspond with us directly.
