From our Team telecon Wednesday, February 7, 2001: * Project items for IMPACT - STEREO Descope options were considered at NASA HQ last Monday. IMPACT will not be affected by new cuts, allowing us to proceed with our post Phase A rescope plan. - GSFC Project instrument managers John Thurber and Harry Culver visited UCB on Jan 31. Issues raised included the deliverables for Phase B, the IMPACT ICD and reaction to the Project IMAR, internal management and tracking of IMPACT development, need for thermal models and more detailed drawings and block diagrams, the boom. Dave will be contacting team members regarding specific Project requests. - Schedule: Dave Curtis is collecting information for a detailed IMPACT schedule. SEP needs to provide their inputs. GSFC Project has engaged a scheduler who will marry the STEREO budgets together, and also insert deliverable documentation into the schedule to help us keep track. - Budget: A new UCB contract is being negotiated with GSFC. Note this will have the "uncorrected" Phase B budget, allowing us to continue work past the previous contract end-date of Feb 28. At some point GSFC will send us a revised budget based on any changes decided by Project and NASA headquarters for Phase BCD. Janet and Dave will let the UCB subcontractors know where this is in the system. - NASA is giving its west coast Risk Management course at UCB on Feb 12-13. Expected IMPACT participants include Dave Curtis, Robert Ullrich, Branislav Kecman, Janet Luhmann. Lockheed will attend this course for SECCHI and other projects. - STEREO Project will probably hold separate PDRs for the spacecraft and instruments in September. - A STEREO/Farside option technical review has been completed at APL. A decision is supposed to be made by Withbroe and announced in mid-February * Instruments - Please mark your calendars for the next IMPACT Team Meeting on Saturday or Sunday, June 2 or 3, in Boston. This is after the Boston Spring AGU meeting and before the next STEREO SWG meeting at UNH on June 4-5. (There is a possibility we can squeeze this meeting into Saturday afternoon, depending on the AGU schedule and our need for the time. Let Janet know of any schedule constraints.) - Dave Curtis to provide project with more detailed drawings of SWEA - Boom Design: Robert Ullrich is working on the boom prototype design - SEP needs to work on a detailed schedule - SEP needs to resolve remaining FOV issues and bracket design issues with APL on the redesigned spacecraft (Tycho) * Other - Dave Curtis still needs to know what is being spent by GSFC IMPACT team members (533s type information) for the record ******************************************* IMPORTANT DATES Feb 12-13 Risk Management class at UCB Feb 28 End of current contract June 2 or 3 Next IMPACT Team Meeting in Boston June 4-5 Next STEREO SWG at UNH ******************************************* Websites to Check periodically for updates http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact/dwc https://sd-forum.jhuapl.edu/stereo/
