From our Team telecon Wednesday, January 10, 2001: * Project items for IMPACT - Project met with George Withbroe this week to discuss the resolution of the STEREO budget situation. IMPACT supplied Joe Davila and Lika Guhathkurta at HQ with information about all of our instruments so they know the science implications of their decisions. The STEREO/Farside option (marrying the STEREO and LWS Farside missions) will be decided by Withbroe following a 3-week technical study at APL. We should know by mid-February which way we are going. In the meantime we are to proceed as planned for Phase B. - Schedule/Budgets: NASA subcontract extensions to the end of February '01 should be in effect. Let Dave or Janet know if your contracting office still needs something from UCB. Project says instrument cost assessments should be finalized in the next weeks - thus we may hear something new about our adjusted Phase B budgets soon. - Project has asked IMPACT to participate in a NASA Risk Management "course" that they will bring to UCB SSL on January 23-24. Dave Curtis and several other SSL technical people will attend. It is highly desirable to have a Caltech attendee for IMPACT also. East coast coIs should attend the GSFC course when it is announced. - Peer Reviews. A provisional Peer Review schedule has been posted on the "dwc/Project" part of the impact website. This schedule is still floating. * Instruments - Boom Design: Robert Ullrich is working on the boom prototype design - SEP needs to resolve remaining FOV issues and bracket design issues with APL on the redesigned spacecraft (Tycho) * Other - Dave Curtis still needs to know what was spent during Phase A and Bridge by GSFC team members (533s type information) for the record ******************************************* IMPORTANT DATES Feb 28 End of current contract Jan 23-24 Risk Management Course at UCB June 3 Next IMPACT Team Meeting June 4-5 Next STEREO SWG at UNH ******************************************* Websites to Check periodically for updates http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact/dwc https://sd-forum.jhuapl.edu/stereo/
