From our Team telecon Wednesday, March 21, 2001: * Project items for IMPACT - Project wants simple thermal models from IMPACT by mid-May, and has engaged a thermal engineer/ contractor at GSFC to assist us. Dave Curtis will be seeking inputs, and Tycho will be working with that person on the SEP thermal design. - APL wants outline/volumetric drawings with connector locations and types for all boxes. Dave Curtis will be collecting that information from team members. - Outstanding issues for IMPACT on the new spacecraft configuration are the SEPT N-S FOV and the envelope reduction for the stowed boom. Tycho and Rhinehold to resolve the SEPT FOV issue and Robert Ullrich the boom issue. - Project wants IMPACT to support (in person or by phone) all spacecraft coordination meetings at 10AM Thursdays at APL. These are spacecraft updates. Dave Curtis will ask IMPACT team members to help support these as appropriate - Project has two new Reviews that impact IMPACT. One is a NASA HQ mandated additional Independent Assessment team review of the whole Project to be done sometime this summer; the other is an added IMPACT Peer Review as a "wrapup" prior to PDR in late September, to include discussion of our plans for Integration and Test. The latter is scheduled August 29 and may require representatives from main subsystems of IMPACT. - Next IMPACT Peer Reviews are SEP/MAG at GSFC on April 19 and IDPU/Software on June 13 at UCB. The new August 29 Peer Review is mentioned above. Dave Curtis has posted the boom suite Peer Review presentation on his website (impact/dwc). - Budget: The new UCB (Phase B) contract startup is in the process of being signed off at UCB. We are currently in a no cost extension until March 31. (Remember that this budget will need revision at some point, so UCB will be requesting subcontractors to make the post-Phase A negotation changes.) - LOAs are now available for viewing at the GSFC STEREO website http://stp.gsfc.nasa.gov. Use the GUEST login. The only letter not yet there is DLR, which is expected soon. - STEREO Project will hold separate PDRs for the spacecraft and instruments in late September. Dates are still TBD * Instruments - Thermal and Box/Connector info is needed by Dave Curtis for Project as described above - During Phase B IMPACT is required to make monthly updates to schedule and Risks. Dave Curtis will send out our Risk List for Team Comment and inputs. Contact Dave if you have a new Risk item. - SEP needs to resolve remaining FOV issues and bracket design issues with APL on the new spacecraft configuration (Tycho) - SEP needs to work on a detailed schedule with Dave Curtis as input to the IMPACT master schedule (Tycho, Alan, Dave) - Boom Design: Robert Ullrich is working to respond to Project re. a smaller stowed unit. * Other - Next IMPACT Team Meeting Sunday, June 3, in Boston (~8:30am-2pm at a location TBD in Boston). This is after the Boston Spring AGU meeting and before the next STEREO SWG meeting at UNH on June 4. Note the SWG is now one day only. Information is available on UNH accommodations. If you did not already receive it contact Janet. - Dave Curtis still needs to know what is being spent by GSFC IMPACT team members (533s type information) for the record ******************************************* IMPORTANT DATES Mar 31 End of current contract NCE April 19 SEP/MAG Peer Review at GSFC June 3 Next IMPACT Team Meeting in Boston June 4 Next STEREO SWG at UNH June 13 IDPU/Software Peer Review at GSFC Aug 29 Wrapup/ I&T Peer Review at UCB ******************************************* Websites to Check periodically for updates http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/impact/dwc https://sd-forum.jhuapl.edu/stereo/
