A long time ago (at least to me), I was born in Bedford, IN, the second son of my parents. I attended Parkview Primary School for two years. In 1980 my family moved to Vincennes, IN, where my parents still live. (My brother and his family live about 40 miles away.) There I attended Washington Elementary, Clark Junior High, and Lincoln High School, all part of the Vincennes Community School Corporation. After graduation I moved to Melbourne, FL, to attend Florida Instutite of Technology. At FIT I met my future wife, Michelle (a picture of us). I graduated from FIT with a B. S. in Space Sciences; two years later, they decided that I could get a M. S. in Space Sciences, too. For lack of anything else to do, we moved to Seattle, WA (or Seattle or even Seattle) so I could work toward a Ph.D. I finally received my Philosophiae Doctor from the Geophysics Program (now part of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences) at the University of Washington on March 22, 2002. After a brief hiatus in the Southern Hemisphere that purposefully had absolutely nothing to do with science, my wife and I moved yet again, this time to the East Bay near San Francisco (or San Francisco or even San Francisco) where I work(!) as a Assistant Research Physicist at the Space Sciences Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley.
