UVI Observations of Comets and Jupiter

2004-05-01: Jupiter

The two top images were again generated using Studio.pro. The bottom image is Scott Boardsen's modeled prediction of what UVI should see (for a time about 20 minutes later than the image). (It's actually an animated GIF file, but it may not play on all browsers.)

There are images taken with the 1356 Angstrom filter. Polar is near apogee, and there appears to be a large amount of scattered light. The background counts are very high and HD 91316 is not visible. The mapping suggests that UVI is looking at Earth (there are latitude and longitude lines). UVI is in fact looking out into space in the direction opposite of Earth. This bug in the mapping has been fixed.
