" Magnetic Reconnection in the Solar Wind
"
Dr. Jack Gosling, LASP, University of Colorado
It is only within the last 6 years that we have learned how to recognize the unambiguous signature of magnetic reconnection in the solar wind in the form of roughly Alfvénic jetting plasma embedded within bifurcated current sheets and bounded by correlated changes in velocity, * V * , and magnetic field, * B * , on one side and anti-correlated changes in * V * and * B * on the other side. This talk provides an overview of some of the things that have been learned about magnetic reconnection from both single and multi-spacecraft observations of reconnection exhaust jets in the solar wind.
