[ Return to Seminars Page ]

THEMIS observations of electromagnetic electron phase-space holes (EHs) and ARTEMIS observations during its first lunar-wake flyby are discussed. For the electromagnetic EHs, It is found that the perpendicular magnetic field signals are primarily due to a relativistic effect and the parallel magnetic field signals are due to ExB drift of electrons. For the first lunar-wake flyby of ARTEMIS, the talk focus on the formation of the observed net potential across the wake, the wavelength and phase velocity of the electrostatic waves observed in the outbound side of the flyby, and the mode of those electrostatic waves.
