=================================================================== Tohban report: 11/27-12/03 Produced at 13:00 on 2007-12-03 (Berkeley) Last data checked: 2007-12-01/24:000 UT =================================================================== Summary ======= The previous tohban reported missing data for TH-B starting 11/18. Possible cause for this might be a lack of synchronization (JMcT). This resulted in the following actions: - L2 cronjob now starts at an earlier time – 6am (JMcT) - Jim Lewis reported that the level 0 packets from WLP.THEMIS_B.TLM_VC3.2007_330_024111 have been merged into /disks/themisdata/thb.  The following November dates have been updated: 18 19 20 22 23 24 25. L1 CDFs were reprocessed for those dates with the newly merged data included. As a result, TH-B now shows data during those days except when the memory saturated. Overview plots don’t show data for TH-D SCM starting 11/27 although L1 and L2 CDFs are in archive. This was reported to Olivier LeContel. He found that L1 and L2 data are not continuous. Reason is not known. THEMIS A Wed 28: no data recovered due to ground station failure - data remain on-board - no new science data acquired THEMIS C Thu 29: excessive telemetry errors due to wrong uplink polarization - data loss THEMIS B Fri 30: pass not supported THEMIS C Sat 1: late acquisition - spacecraft seems to have locked on command subcarrier sideband initially THEMIS C Sat 1: pass not supported THEMIS A,B,C: continued to saturate memories (action to prevent this will be taken – see below) Tohban approved the following configuration changes =================================================== - run threshold test on all SSTs at 8 Re. ESA HV should be on. - change all probes to have 8 particle bursts 10 min long, with 2 wave burst in each of 8 seconds; triggers are set to calculate off the Bz for PBurst and FBK for WBurst - curtailing slow survey data collection of the 460 (FGL) and 441 (VAF) products; run commands to discard 0x460 and 0x441 when in slow survey The current configuration is: - P3, P4, and P5 (THEMIS D, E, and A) collect 12 hours of Fast Survey during the GBO region of interest. - P2 (THEMIS C) collects 12 hours of Fast Survey during the C2D (two day conjunction) region of interest. - P1 (THEMIS B) collects 12 hours of Fast Survey during the C4D (four day conjunction) region of interest. - SST attenuators remain closed throughout the orbit on all five probes. - No more EFI SDT's requested or scheduled for THEMIS B. - McFadden reported the ESA gain toggle test on THEMIS C and D were lost due to data overflow (other probes were OK), so C and D have been rescheduled: THEMIS C: 2007/337 21:30:06 (8 Re outbound) THEMIS D: 2007/337 19:10:05 (8 Re outbound) - THEMIS C, D and E will send commands to discard APID's 0x441 and 0x460 when in slow survey, starting at 337/00:00:01 UTC. Will send these commands manually for THEMIS A and B as soon as practical. Data quality ============ Note: THEMIS B data from 11/18 – 11/26 have been re-checked because they were not available during the previous tohban term. Most data quantities are fine. There are still several long data gaps because of memory saturation. Note: Most data gaps were due to memory saturations of THEMIS A: 11/28 and 11/29 THEMIS B: 11/26 and 11/30 THEMIS C: 11/27 and 12/01 FGM: 11/26 A fine, B fine, C fine, D no data until 1900 UT, E fine 11/27 A fine, B fine, C fine, D fine, E fine 11/28 A fine, B fine, C no data, D fine, E fine 11/29 A fine, B fine (except last two hrs), C no data, D data until 1800 UT, E fine 11/30 A fine, B no data after 0300 UT, C fine, D no data until 1800 UT, E fine 12/01 A no data after 0400 UT, B no data, C fine, D fine, E fine 12/02 A, B, C, D, E: examine with next week’s report ESA: 11/26 A fine, B no data before 0300 UT, C no data after 0700 UT, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 11/27 A fine (1-hr data gap around 0500 UT), B fine, C no data, D fine, E fine 11/28 A no data after 1100 UT, B fine (data gap from 1100-2100 UT), C no data until 1700 UT, D fine, E fine 11/29 A no data until ~2000 UT, B fine (except last hour missing), C fine, D fine (no data during last 2 hrs), E fine 11/30 A fine, B no data, C fine, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 12/01 A no data after ~0600 UT, B no data, C no data after 1700 UT, D fine, E fine 12/02 A, B, C, D, E: examine with next week’s report SST: 11/26 A fine, B no data before 0300 UT, C no data after 0700 UT, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 11/27 A fine, B fine, C no data, D fine, E fine 11/28 A no data after 1100 UT, B fine, C no data after 1700 UT, D fine, E fine 11/29 A no data until ~2000 UT, B fine, C fine, D fine until 2200 UT, E fine 11/30 A fine, B no data, C fine, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 12/01 A no data after 0500 UT, B no data, C no data after 1600 UT, D fine, E fine 12/02 A, B, C, D, E: examine with next week’s report EFI filter bank: A not deployed yet 11/26 B no data before 0300 UT, C no data after 0700 UT, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 11/27 B fine, C no data, D fine, E fine 11/28 B fine, C no data until 1700 UT, D fine, E fine 11/29 B fine, C fine, D fine, E fine 11/30 B no data, C fine, D no data until 2300 UT, E fine 12/01 B no data, C no data after 1700 UT, D fine, E fine 12/02 B, C, D, E: examine with next week’s report SCM filter bank: 11/26 A fine, B no data before 0300 UT, C no data after 0700 UT, D no data until 2200 UT, E fine 11/27 A fine, B fine, C no data, D data until 1900 UT (see comment in summary), E fine 11/28 A no data after 1100 UT, B fine, C no data until 1700 UT, D no data (see comment in summary), E fine 11/29 A no data (except ~10 min around 2100 UT), B fine, C fine, D no data (see comment in summary), E data until 1700 UT 11/30 A no data, B no data, C fine, D no data (see comment in summary), E no data 12/01 A no data, B no data, C fine, D no data (see comment in summary), E no data 12/02 A, B, C, D, E: examine with next week’s report Triggers ======== All probes recorded 4 or less particle bursts per orbit.
