Tohban report, 7-mar-2005 to 14-mar-2005 Hugh Hudson (hhudson@ssl.berkeley.edu) -1) Emergency situation http://www.spaceflightnow.com/news/n0503/02observing/ 0) Social note Our 14-time tohban Paula Balciunaite departed for a warmer climate (figuratively speaking), and a grand party ("kakomu-kai") sent her off. Thanks to Steven Christe for organization. Goodbye also to Emily Rauscher, for that matter, but since she is staying in physics we may actually see her again. 1) Solar Activity: Humdrum if not abysmal. The extreme dip noted in the GOES daily levels (see http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu:80/~hhudson/scratch/goes_5m.gif bottom panel if interested) did not recur. At least there were flares to count: How many GOES flares occurred? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 30 5 0 0 And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 12 3 0 0 And how many had EXCELLENT coverage? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 11 2 0 0 There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 18 / 35 over the time range 05-Mar-05 12-Mar-05 2) Memory Managment: No real problem. The maximum fill did not exceed about 40%. The tohban sent one unanswered email asking about increased decimation but it was not necessary (next time, the beeper!). 3) Data survey * Gaps 8-mar-05 19:05 (~15 min) * Flare-finder misses 8-mar-05 20:32 22:35 9-mar-05 01:28 03:15 20:26 11-mar-05 23:55 13-mar-05 09:50 14:33 * Flare-finder wrong hits 12-mar-05 13:25 * Items for Abby 9-mar-05 12:15 et al. - sharply defined particle region decays slowly Next week's Tohban is Richard Schwartz (through Sundeay); the week after Martin Fivian will take over (from Sunday)
