RHESSI Tohban report, 17-May-2005 to 23-May-2005 Pascal Saint-Hilaire/shilaire@ssl.berkeley.edu (and Amir Caspi/cepheid@ssl.berkeley.edu from May 17 to 21) 1. Solar Activity An M2.0 flare occurred at the beginning of the week (May 17th). Data has not arrived yet, but RHESSI should have had good coverage. Solar activity has decreased during the rest of the week, and the sun produced only a handful of flares in the low Cs. Solar baseline level has remained pretty close to the B1 level, and has decreased to ~A6 in the last couple of days. 2. Memory Management SSR fill level is at 3.9% as of 2005/05/23 11:00 PST. Front segments are still off during S/C night. 3. Decimation The ACTIVE/ACTIVE mode was still in use. Because of the low solar activity and the good state of memory management, it was decided to switch to NORMAL/ACTIVE. A note for David Smith: The following web page: http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/~dsmith/hessi/decimationrecord.html has some typos, at least in the last three entries: The link names are "T6","T6", and "T6", whereas the actual link are to tables "T3","T3", and "T4" (which I believe are correct). 4. Data Gaps A large number of important data gaps: GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-17T01:15:00.000 -- 2005-05-17T03:45:00.000 9000.0000 2005-05-17T07:50:00.000 -- 2005-05-17T07:55:00.000 300.00000 GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-18T07:45:00.000 -- 2005-05-18T09:00:00.000 4500.0000 2005-05-18T10:30:00.000 -- 2005-05-18T10:40:00.000 600.00000 GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-19T08:30:00.000 -- 2005-05-19T09:50:00.000 4800.0000 2005-05-19T11:00:00.000 -- 2005-05-19T13:50:00.000 10200.000 2005-05-19T17:50:00.000 -- 2005-05-19T21:25:00.000 12900.000 GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-20T00:40:00.000 -- 2005-05-20T03:35:00.000 10500.000 2005-05-20T06:05:00.000 -- 2005-05-20T07:40:00.000 5700.0000 2005-05-20T10:05:00.000 -- 2005-05-20T10:10:00.000 300.00000 2005-05-20T11:00:00.000 -- 2005-05-20T13:20:00.000 8400.0000 2005-05-20T16:40:00.000 -- 2005-05-20T20:15:00.000 12900.000 2005-05-20T23:10:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T00:00:00.000 3000.0000 GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-21T00:00:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T01:55:00.000 6900.0000 2005-05-21T04:30:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T06:05:00.000 5700.0000 2005-05-21T10:00:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T11:05:00.000 3900.0000 2005-05-21T11:45:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T14:45:00.000 10800.000 2005-05-21T18:30:00.000 -- 2005-05-21T22:00:00.000 12600.000 GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC) 2005-05-22T01:20:00.000 -- 2005-05-22T04:10:00.000 10200.000 2005-05-22T14:25:00.000 -- 2005-05-22T18:10:00.000 13500.000 2005-05-22T21:15:00.000 -- 2005-05-23T00:00:00.000 9900.0000 (The Observing Summary IDPU flag is at the expected 20 value, but regularly goes down to 0 around data gap times.) Most of these data should be recoverable (as of the writing of this report, some of them already were). 5. Misc -It seems the SAA has expanded a little: Mark reported false alarms producing shutter state changes shortly after official SAA passages --> to be investigated. -As of 2005/05/23, S/C spin rate is 14.612 rpm (4.106 s period). -To future Tohbans: You can add my email (shilaire@ssl.berkeley.edu) and Iain's (hahhah@ssl.berkeley.edu) to the list of recipients of Tohban reports.
