RHESSI Tohban report, 23-May-2005 to 31-May-2005 Pascal Saint-Hilaire (shilaire@ssl.berkeley.edu) 1. Solar Activity Solar activity is still relatively low. The strongest flare that occured was an M1.1, on May 27th around 12:00 UT. The GOES baseline level has varied between the A6 and the B1 level. How many GOES flares occurred? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 42 8 1 0 And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 5 0 0 0 And how many had EXCELLENT coverage? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 2 0 0 0 There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 6 / 51 over the time range 23-May-05 30-May-05 2. Memory Management SSR fill level is at 9.4%. Front segments are still off during S/C night. 3. Decimation The decimation mode has been switched to NORMAL/ACTIVE this past week. 4. Data Gaps The great majority of the big datagaps from last week have been recovered except for a few: Still an hour-long datagap with plenty of shutter movement on May 20th. Misc Cold plate temperature is dropping (now at 80.9K)! --> Needs to be monitored! Spin rate at 14.53 rpm. No spin-up is considered during Crab observation period. TARGET OF OPPORTUNITY: RHESSI will have a look at a transient X-ray pulsar (A0535+26, I think),that just lit up (current brightness is about 3 Crabs!), before the regular Crab observations. It is a few degrees away from the Crab, and had last lit up about 10 years ago. More on this from D. Smith as he takes over Tohban duties on Thursday. 7. Next week's Tohban: From Tuesday, May 31st to Thursday, June 2nd: Pascal Saint-Hilaire From Thursday, June 2nd to Monday, June 7th: David Smith
