Tohban report, 8-mar-2006 to 15-mar-2006 Amir Caspi, cepheid@ssl.berkeley.edu 1. Solar Activity: GOES was "flatlined" for most of the week, with activity picking up during the last day. There were a handful of A-class events during the week (mostly at the end) and 4 B-class events. RHESSI observed the late rise, peak, and decay of a long-duration (~3-4 hr) B4 event on 11-Mar-06. We missed one B-class event, got full coverage of a B2 flare on 14-Mar-06, and caught the rise and peak of another B2 later that day. There are currently 3 compact active regions on the Sun, and activity is expected to remain low throughout the week. 1a. RHESSI Events None of the observed B-class events were marked as flares in the flare list. There were a few detector arcs during the week, marked as flares - possibly need to tweak the flare-finding algorithm. 2. Memory Managment: Decimation was Normal/Vigorous, with front segments OFF at night. SSR fill was between ~20% and ~60% throughout the week. Decreased downlink times and slightly increased activity are causing us to slowly fall behind. There may also be low-energy noise in the detectors causing more total counts. David Smith is investigating the significance of low-energy noise events. At this time, there are no other recommendations for reducing SSR fill. 3. Data Gaps: Some long gaps over the last 2 days of the week; these are most likely due to processing or playback delays. Special operations: HV on G5 and G6 was lowered on 09-Mar-06. The shutter algorithm is now based purely on the livetime from G9, as of 10-Mar-06. The spacecraft was spun up on 14-Mar-06. 6.
