To my eye, the last example clearly shows the soft-hard-harder pattern, in that the spectral ratio towards the end is higher than that at the beginning. This would be consistent with a complex source consisting of bursts - which may or may not show spectral evolution other than soft-hard-soft, or maybe a "second step" (Bai) - plus another long-lived source that is gradually getting harder.
