Remembering A.A. Korchak

Interesting link about Korchak! I visited him long ago (perhaps 1972?) in Troitsk, aware that he could not travel but not knowing that he was a founding member of the Moscow Helsinki group.

Lorentz factor

If you have high Lorentz factor (\gamma>100) electrons most of their energy will be lost by synchrotron radiation in a magnetic field of about 100 G. The photon energy density in the photosphere is equivalent to 7 G, so only <1% of the electron energy will go into X-rays requiring a huge energy input. Most of the energy will come out in sub-mm and micron region. I think there are some limits in this wavelength range.
