RHESSI anomaly update

This week was the first standard operations week since the anomaly that occurred on 16 March 2010. The spacecraft is generally healthy, although there are some issues with light leakage in detectors 2, 3, 5 and 9 that may be as a result of damage to the thermal blankets. Detector 5 is showing some very unusual behaviour aside from light leakage that cannot be explained at this time. The high voltage will be lowered and monitored to see if this relieves the problem.

Solar Activity

Solar activity was at a high level this week. There were 32 flares this week, including an M1.2 event on 5/5/10. This weeks flares were mostly produced by NOAA 11069, a beta-gamma region located at approximately latitude 50N. Activity has decreased in the past number of days and is expected to remain at low levels for the next few days.

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 25 6 1 0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 11 5	1 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 5 1 1 0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 17 / 32 over the time range 5-May-10 11-May-10

Memory Management

The SSR reached a max of 45% and is emptying after each pass.
