We've got flares!  There were 4 X-class flares this week.  These were produced by two different active regions.  The first two, on October 25, occurred in 11882 near the eastern limb (but on the disk).  The second two, on Oct. 8 and Oct. 29, were from AR 11875, which is just rotating off the disk.  The Oct. 29 flare is right on the limb and may be slightly occulted.  This AR is a good candidate for producing occulted flares in the next day.  Of the ARs remaining on the disk, two of them are producing M flares.  STEREO-B shows at least one more AR that will rotate onto the disk in a few days.

Solar Activity

We've got flares! There were 4 X-class flares this week. These were produced by two different active regions. The first two, on October 25, occurred in 11882 near the eastern limb (but on the disk). The second two, on Oct. 8 and Oct. 29, were from AR 11875, which is just rotating off the disk. The Oct. 29 flare is right on the western limb and may be slightly occulted. This AR is a good candidate for producing occulted flares in the next day. Of the ARs remaining on the disk, two of them are producing M flares. STEREO-B shows at least one more AR that will rotate onto the disk in a few days.
