Solar Activity

The activity was low earlier this week, but it picked up gradually over the course of a few days with numerous C-class flares. The largest activity was the M2.4 class flare on 9-Feb-2015. There are currently 4 active regions on disk. The most complex AR 12280 is expected to rotate off the disk soon and so we still expect low solar activity next week.

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 0 38 2 0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 0 33 2 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 0 14 0 0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 317 / 40 over the time range 03-Feb-15 10-Feb-15

Memory Management

The night-time events were kept off this week with active/vigorous mode. The SSR was not emptying at the end of daily pass sets with the maximum 38%.

Spacecraft Status

The spacecraft was nominal this week.

Data Gaps

There was a relatively large (~25 min) VC3 data gap:

 GAPS IN APP_ID = 102 (VC3-MONITOR RATES) WITH PACKET RATE LT 30
GAP START TIME GAP END TIME GAP (SEC)
 2015-02-07T00:30:00.000 -- 2015-02-07T00:55:00.000 1500.0000

Temperatures

The cryocooler power was raised from 67.1W to 71.8W on 04-Feb-2015 20:35 UTC. The goal was to see if raising the power would lower the cold tip and cold plate temperatures, without damaging the cryocooler. (For details, see emails from Mark Lewis on Feb. 4 and 5). As a result, the Cold Tip Temperatures have come down ~1 degree more than they would otherwise have come down.

Currently, Cold Plates 1/2 are at 126.5/124.9 and Cold Tips 1/2 are at 105.5/103.6.

The CPC Temperature has stabilized at ~54C (in the yellow) throughout this week.

Detector issues

Monitor rates have been stable. No change to detector thresholds and HVs.

Other notes

The decision was made to leave the Cryocooler power as it is now for a while. The Tohban should monitor the temperature and accelerometer readings.
