Solar Activity

We began the week with a really low solar activity. There were none sunspots on the visible face of the Sun at the end of last week. On the weekend there were a couple of active regions that reached the East Solar limb and hosted several C-class flares as well as one small M-class flare that unfortunately we couldn't observe with RHESSI since we had all detectors off during that time.

Since Monday solar activity has been rather quite low, with a couple of C-class flares and a handful of B-class flares. Currently, there are five small active regions with 15% of probability to host an M-class flare in the next days.

How many GOES flares occurred?

No overlapping RHESSI flares to count, sorry

Memory Management

Decimation is normal/vigorous for the full-time period. The SSR is empty. Detectors G3 and G8 were turned off on Wednesday, August 3 at 4:30pm (PST). Detectors G3 and G8 have been turned on again on Monday, August 8 at 2:10PM (PST). Due to the low solar activity, �the SSR remains quite empty.

Spacecraft Status

We turned off detectors G3 and G8 on Wednesday, August 3 at 4:30PM. The cold plates, 1 and 2 were at 136.9 and 135.6 K. All detector remained turned off until 16-222 at 19:10 UTC when by decision of the complete RHESSI team we decided to turn on again detectors G3 and G8 keeping an eye on the cold-tip and cold-plate temperatures. Due to the decrement in the Sun fraction, it was expected an increase of all temperatures and that was the reason to decide turn off all of the detectors. During the weekend both, the cold tip and the cold plate temperatures continued increasing but the slope was reduced.

On Monday, August 8 (when we turned on G3 and G8) the temperatures were:

- Cold tip 1: 115.6
- Cold tip 2: 113.7
- Cold plate 1: 137.4
- Cold plate 2: 136.0

On Tuesday, August 9 (With G3 and G8 at 2000V) the temperatures were:

Data Gaps

No gaps so far.

Detector issues

We turned off detectors G3 and G8. All detectors were off for four days and a half to deal with the high temperatures caused by the variation of the Sun fraction. On Monday, August 8 we proceeded to turn on and ramp up the Voltage of detectors G3 and G8. We complete the voltage ramping up on Tuesday, August 9, reaching the 4000V.

Today detectors G3 and G8 are on, segmented and taking good data. All other detectors remain off.
