Solar Activity

Mostly Quiet, with some recent activity:

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 15 4 0 0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 7 3 0 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 7 1 0 0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 24 / 19 over the time range 23-Aug-16 30-Aug-16

Memory Management

Decimation was normal/vigorous for the full time period. The SSR is empty. Detectors 3 and 8 are on full-time, including spacecraft night, and rear segment decimation is turned off.

Spacecraft Status

Detectors 3 and 8 are recording events. The cold tips are 115.77 and 113.81 K on 2016-08-02. The cold plates, 1 and 2 are 138.9 and 137.5 K.

On 2016-08-25, the front grid tray heater was turned off. The front grid temperature decreased to approximately 13 C. Also the rear grid tray heater activated to keep the lower grid tray at 21 C. The grid tray heater changes, resulted in a small increase in minimum battery voltage (approximately 0.4 to 0.5 V), so there was a small amount of power saved.

The cryocooler power was increased to 86W (from 81W) on 2016-08-26, resulting in a cold tip temperature drop of about 0.5 K. The accelerometer average increased by 1.5 to 2.0 mg. The minimum battery voltage dropped by about 0.5 to 0.6 V, to approxmately 26.0 V, about 0.1 V less than the value for the state with cryopower at 81W and the front grid tray heater on. The CPC temperature increased by approximately 5 C, and the HRC temperature increased by about 2.5 C, consistent with the increases seen in the jump of cryopower from 76 to 81W. The cryocooler efficiencies dropped by about 0.001, again similar to the efficiency drop in the earlier cryopower jump.

The daily average for the cold tip temperatures (ICT1T+ICT2T)/2.0

2016-08-24 114.87

Data Gaps

The many short data gaps are due to noisy data connections.

Detector issues

Detectors 3 and 8 are powered on, and are recording events. No excess large numbers of resets or fast or slow rates at present. No changes were made to thresholds. All other detectors are off.
