RHESSI Albedo Imaging Test

Active Region 375

The following plots are for all flares that met the selection criteria for counts in the 6keV - 12keV energy band. The following flares are all associated with Active Region 375.

These are once again from images made using the specs from previous weeks:

   * Time: Decided by the peak of the 6keV-12keV energy band for each flare
   * Energy: 6keV to 12keV
   * Detectors: 3 to 9
   * Pixel Size: 2 arcsec by 2 arcsec
   * Image Size: 128 pixels by 128 pixels
   * Clean Beam Width Factor = 2 

Clean images were made with the above parameters. For each image the centroid of the source was measured, the total flux in the image was measured, and the standard deviation in the x and y direction for each source was measured. Using these measurements the plots below were made.

The first plot was adjusted for the change in solar radius as observed from the earth at the time of the flare. All plots as a function of distance were made with the x axis as a ratio of the distance to limb at the time.

The flares from one active region were looked to see if a trend could be observed as it moved across the sun. In this case for active region 375 no trends were evident. The plots as a group are discussed below the group.

The ratio of the standard deviation in y to the standard deviation in x as a function of the ratio of the distance to the limb for flares associated with active region 375.


The ratio of the standard deviation in y to the standard deviation in x as a function of the time for flares associated with active region 375.


The total flux for the imaging interval versus time for flares associated with active region 375.


The peak flux as a function of time for flares associated with active region 375.

The first plot above shows the ratio of the standard deviations in x and y as a function of distance from the center of the sun divided by the location of the limb. The three plots below show the same quantity as a function of time along with plots for the total counts in the image and the peak flux. Once again no pattern is immediately evident.
