The NASA Student Involvement Program  provides opportunities for students and teachers to design and build experiments that will fly in either a sub-orbital rocket or in a  module in the cargo bay of the space shuttle.
Each year, teams of students are invited to submit proposals for flight through the NSIP Flight Opportunities competition website.
There are lots of competitions and learning opportunities available for students in grades K-12!  See the NSIP website for details.
