NASA Student Involvement Program

  Students and teachers attending the NSIP Flight Opportunities Launch at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia will be involved in the many activities described below.  Click here for this year's launch week itinerary.
 
Pre Launch Activities      There are some special meetings and payload tests that occur before and while the students and teachers are present at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.  They include telecoms, experiment integration into the rocket payload section, bend tests, spin/balance tests, vibration tests, the Mission Readiness Review  (MR2), and the Range Readiness Review (R3)

The Stations     During the launch one member from each team will be located at one of the following stations.  Below are a description of the stations and the role the team member will play. 
  Mission Control Center

Launch Sequence      Many times people do not understand what is going on at the various stations while the launch is being counted down.  It is handy to read through or follow along the launch sequence as the launch progresses.  This link will allow you to obtain a copy of the launch sequence.
