RECOVERY BOAT

Under COnstruction

Sometimes it is possible for a student to join the recovery team on a US Coast Guard recovery vessel or hired fishing vessel.  At this station, the student will depart with the ship from port and remain until recovery is completed.  The experience can be sickening and boring at times as the seas can be rough and the wait long.  Since it takes time for the ship to reach the recovery area, this person must be an early riser!

After the rocket has splashed down, the recovery ship will proced to the payload's last known position.  After the payload location is visually confirmed, the recovery ship will maneuver along side the floating payload.  The crew will capture the payload and bring it aboard.  After the payload is on board, it will be washed with fresh water.  The ship will return to home port  The payload will be transported back to WFF for post flight processing.
