There are some special meetings that occur before and while the students
and teachers are present at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. They
include the following: |
Telecoms |
On a regular basis the
flight teams have a teleconference with each other and the NASA Wallops
Flight Team. |
|
Experiment Integration |
Once experiments arrive at
Wallops, they are viewed by the Wallops Flight Team and integrated into
the Orion rocket payload section. |
 |
Payload Bend Test |
The bend test is used to check on
the payload stresses at the various joints. If the rocket bends
too much, it could cause oscilations during flight that might scew
experminet results. |
 |
Spin/Balance Test |
The spin/balance test is
done to ensure that the payload will be balanced along the z-axis as it
spins along in its trajectory. |
 |
Vibration Tests |
There are three basic
vibration tests that are performed.
- Vertical vibration
- Horizontal vibration
- Rotational vibration |

Students and Teachers
Arrive at Wallops |
Final assembly of payload
and experiments take place. The payload and the Orion rocket motor
will be staged and positioned on the ARC launcher at Pads 1 or 2. |
|
Experiment Integration |
 |
Students and teachers work
alongside the NASA engrineers and scientists putting the final touches
on and integrating the experiments into the rocket payload section |
