Solar Activity

Activity has been very low with flare-producing 11034 rotating off disk at the beginning of the week. There are currently no ARs on disk as 11035 is decaying and consists mainly of plage.

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 16 1 0 0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 16 1 0 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 5 1 0 0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 16 / 16 over the time range 15-Dec-10 22-Dec-10

Memory Management

SSR remains at high levels (~20-30%) despite there being almost no activity on the Sun. As of this week, THEMIS should no longer be using RHESSI passes so the SSR should return to ~0% in the next day or so.

Spacecraft Status

Spin rate is 14.75 and the cold plate 2 temperature is 97 degrees.

The front lower-level discriminator threshold was raised from 3 to 6 keV for G6. The "FrontSlowDAC" threshold was change from 0x0C to 0x18 for detector 6.

The "glitches" observed by last weeks Tohban (i.e. the pulsing X-rays and the "plateau" like anomaly) were not observed this week. If these are as a result of detector 6 arcing, then the increase of the low level discriminator threshold may have solved the problem. Despite the threshold being raised however, the reset rates in detector 6 did not drop, as was the hope.
