STEREO/IMPACT Data Browser

This browser development effort is using Helios mission data prior to STEREO launch. Helios was an ESA twin spacecraft mission that obtained in-situ plasma, magnetic field and SEP data in 1974-1985, making it an early prototype of STEREO -except for its orbit, which was elliptical with perihelion near 0.3 AU. The IMP-8 and ISEE-3 spacecraft provided a counterpart of ACE near-Earth observations for comparison. Examining the Helios and near-Earth data in Carrington rotation intervals will help us to develop our approaches for analyzing the new STEREO IMPACT data in the context of other STEREO and ACE observations. Not since Helios has the regular, multipoint heliospheric observation capability been available. Stay tuned for STEREO browse plots here after launch in early 2006.
